07.02.2013 Human Flows
CRASSH seeks submissions for a new juried photographic exhibition at the Alison Richard Building of the University of Cambridge for early 2013.
Entitled ‘Human Flows’ the exhibition will feature compelling images that explore flows in all their manifestations including – but not limited to – dance, body, energy, migration, pilgrimage and protest. The exhibition is predicated on the idea of flows as an integral property of the human experience that influence our actions both as individuals and as a society, whether voluntary or forced, invited or constrained.
50 photographs will be selected by a jury of photography professionals and academics that includes:
- Igor Gulin, Moscow-based cultural critic
- Mantas Kvedaravicius, social anthropologist & film director
- Emma Raynes, Program Director of Magnum Foundation’s Emergency Fund; teaches at International Center of Photography in New York
- Christos Lynteris, social anthropologist based at CRASSH and Social Anthropology, University of Cambridge
- Yukiko Yamagata, Associate Director for the Open Society Foundations Documentary Photography Project
- Sam Barzilay, Creative Director of United Photo Industries; co-founder of Photoville.
The exhibition will be launched on Thursday 7 February 2013 with a public symposium on the theme of ‘Human Flows’ at the Alison Richard Building.
Submissions are invited by Friday 18 January 2013. Full details and to apply. Winners will be announced Thursday 24 January 2013.
‘Human Flows’ is presented by CRASSH of the University of Cambridge in association with United Photo Industries.
